Why do you show a drawing of the Patna that is a completely different ship than the Patna in Alien 3? In the film, the Patna looks very close to a Conestoga class cruiser like the Sulaco. What gives?

The imperial Guard fights demons, supernatural aliens, high tech galactic empires and Ork Waaaaghs daily. They enter combat everytime as the underdog knowing they are nothing but common men facing horrors that will strip their souls away yet they fight regardless. The IG's morale alone defeats Star Trek and Starwars troopers and Halo armies cannot afford the attritional toe to toe with the IG. Respect to all parties involved but Warhammer is a large rolling furball of insanity and everyone else is fighting for second place.

Well, in an attrition war you gotta hand it to the imperium. Which, probably just should win, because in a toe to toe of any of these, they’d win, no matter how many lives were wasted along the way. And while the average trooper could have just been handed a lasgun and told to go die for the emperor, their elite regiments are as elite as any of these. And they all are accustomed to handling a wide range of horrors. The empire is a smaller, worse equipped, worse armored, more incompetent (with no firing skill) version of the imperium. Maybe some dark troopers and supercommandos are a bit better. But still not anything capable of changing the outcome. The UNSC is up there when it comes to training and attempt to preserve life. If you factor in spartans (but ignore space marines from earlier), then maybe in a 1:1 fight these guys would win out. But the imperium has billions for every UNSC trooper. And an ODST is pretty comparable to an elysian drop trooper. Star trek, aside from some cheeky teleportation, just isn’t kitted out for frontline attritional combat. They lose. They lose big. Best thing they can do is avoid the fight entirely.

The UNSC MC is not the main infantry force of the UNSC, the UNSC Army is the main fighting force. The Marines are an expeditionary force, just like IRL

Imperial Guards books I've read to this point detail that no more than a few thousand Guardsmen are deployed to capture planets ( source: Cain Novels, Gaunt's Ghosts ). The only somewhat realistic numbers were depicted in the Baneblade novels iirc.

Even if you limit the deployment size to say 10 Regiments of the Astra Militarum, without Navy Support, they would crush the UNSC, Star Trek and Star Wars in a Haeart Beat. My Force would be 2 Regiments of the Death Korps of Krieg to attack and siege Warfare, 4 Cadian Regiments as Good reliable and nearly impossible to break Linetroops (Cadia Stands!) 2 Tank Regiments, ideally with some Baneblade Versions but nnormal Tanks and 2 Artillery Regiments to shell the enemy and introduce them to copious ammounts of Death and teach them to fear the Imperiums Hammer

Realistically, if the UNSC had the numbers that the Imperium or the Empire have, they would probably win. Quality over quantity goes a long way

StarTrek has personal energy shields and humanoid drones/ physical holograms to make up for lacking numbers. None of which matters because other factions can't compete with Trek in WMD capability, space navy's firepower, mass production, logistics, and vast proliferation of high-level technology. Even backwater colonies with just a few thousand people have enough tech and fire power to inflict massive casualties.

I feel like the Star Trek forces were just tacked on and really just dont stack up. Especially when a behemoth like 40k is involved. A better pick to compare would have been something like the Terran Dominion's military from Starcraft or the Mobile Infantry of Starship Troopers.

I do forget about the fact that Stormtroopers are not the rank and file soldiers of the Empire. Those are technically the elites, since we really only seeing them assault rebel bases, or are stationed in places that are incredibly important to the empire, such as the Death Star or the gas refining plant they blew up in Mando. As we saw in Solo, there are countless battles all across the Galaxy, and this isn’t the clone wars anymore. High quality armor is not needed, since the Empire cares even less about lives than the Republic cared for the clones.

Agreed the sheer scale and might of the imperial guard is just utterly laughable and insane although it does depend entirely on the regiment in question although the most cookie cutter regiment would be the cadians, even that is putting it mildly loose considering that each world has its own cultures and military traditions along with individual regimental traditions and sub cultures can result is a staggering variety of different and diverse skills as well as specializations from the stubborn and persistent mordians where in order to say capture a bunker or to actually kill a tank requires the entire mordian heavy weapons team to be killed or made inoperable to the point where even though the mordians were being literally overran and being ripped to stress by a swarm of tyranids they remained at their posts until they could no longer depress the trigger or replace the ammunition belt because their hand was clamped shut down on the trigger despite its original owner long since passed on, to the stock and depressing death korps of krieg who would make the battle of mimbam turn into a picnic Holliday for them as they unleash gas bombs and massive artillery strikes onto their enemies position whilst using an E-tool whilst making happy gasmask noises. And so on, the only two real form of standard guard units would be the solar axilai from the great crusade which would make this more of a crying contest rather than an actual fair fight when it would be akin to a body builder beating a child they are that powerful and well equipped where they were the only ones during the Horus heresy to be able to actually go toe to toe against a space marine and still have a chance of coming out on top, and the second o e is the tempestus scions 😊
